January the time for day dreaming…

By January I'm getting spring fever!!! It's been weeks of planning and ordering and dreaming of all the fun in the coming spring. It's hard for me, I hate cold weather, I know it is vital for my bulbs and fruit trees and in reality to give the soil a chance to rest but I can't wait to get my hands back in the dirt. Here on the Arizona Strip mother nature plays games with us for months..days that are sometimes in the upper 50's but nights dipping right back into the 20's. 

I get tempted to get out and prune in the vineyard but I know its going to get cold again so it's a bad idea but I check on the mustard plants, walk the rows and pray the cold hasn't taken too many vines. It's a rough life as a gardener in the high desert, patience is key to survival.
