Who we are

Well … “We” is me, Carole and my family members who help with all of the work planting, weeding and caring for our gardens! We have an amazing crew!

We have been creating an organic garden and vineyard in the high desert of the Arizona Strip. We are just south of Zion National Park and although our address says Arizona we are basically in southern Utah.

I am passionate about growing organic herbs, flowers & vegetables in an effort to provide healthy, non GMO, nutrient dense foods to my family, friends and local community. I am grateful for your support in this passion project.

Adagio Vineyard

Our experimental vineyard. We have 8 varietals of wine grapes planted here. We are hoping to see which wine grapes do well in our area or hopefully survive. It’s rough here in the high desert, at just under 5000 ft elevation, we get COLD winters but HOT summers. It’s not ideal for growing grapes but it has been a life-long dream so we are giving it a go.

2023 was our first harvest of the Zinfandel and 2025 we harvested our first Cabernets. Currently we have a small batch of each fermenting in our vats. Only time will tell if they are drinkable…. We are looking forward to harvesting Barbera in the 2026 season if everything goes well.

Come with us on our journey as we learn and grow.

The Garden

Our gardens include about 1/4 acre traditional garden, a hoop-house for extending the growing season and a perennial plot where we grow rows of lavender, cut flowers, our calendula beds and a variety of medicinal and culinary herbs which we use for distilling hydrosols & making tinctures in addition to drying or using fresh in our cooking. ( I also have a home garden where I grow some of the more delicate plants and flowers… but when I say “at the garden” it’s not my home garden I am referring to.) The garden is located about a block from my home on a plot dedicated to agriculture.

The goal with our gardens is to provide healthy, non GMO, organic, nutrient dense food for our family, friends and local community. We have been passionate about growing organic for a long time. We are working on transitioning from traditional gardening to a no or low till. We still use agricultural plastic on our seasonal vegetable rows which is kind of a compromise…. but it allows us to go pesticide and herbicide free. We are continually looking for new ways to improve our process while protecting the environment.
